FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

ANSWERS:

The term “cosmetic” is used because of the focus and expectation of the outcome from the acupuncture treatment. The Cosmetic Rejuvenation Acupuncture System focuses on a complete approach designed to improve the production of collagen and elastin and balance health. The overall affect of this dual approach results in a younger looking, firmer, revitalized face!
Plastic Surgery and Cosmetic Acupuncture have “the clock is always ticking” in common. Aging does not stop! When patients say “I should just have a facelift and be done”, I ask them to look at the long-term effects and what their goals are. A facelift will need to be repeated every 7-10 years depending on health, diet, sun exposure, etc. Is this something you want to keep up? Cost, health, risk factors and compromising a natural appearance are important considerations. Cosmetic Acupuncture is NOT a surgical face-lift. It can turn back the clock. Your appearance will always be natural and reflect your improved health and the character you have spent a lifetime building. This is a procedure you can do once in a lifetime or once a year. If you stop the process at any time you will not have the issue of skin and soft tissue that have been surgically altered.
Research has shown that a Cosmetic Acupuncture facelift can last 3-5 years. It is important to understand that the aging process continues during this time. Diet, lifestyle and illnesses can affect the length of the results. When a patient experiences a dramatic event in their life they can undergo a few treatments to help restore balance.
There are several different ways you can maintain your results. You will be counseled on diet and lifestyle as well as herbs, supplements and skin care that are specific to skin health. A once a month appointment can help maintain the results or some patients choose to have the whole protocol once a year to revitalize the results and their whole body, mind and spirit.
There is no downtime with this procedure. Patients will often have friends say to them “you are doing something and I want to know what it is”! The risks are minimal and rare. They may include bruising at the needle site, and headache.
The cost for ten treatments is $1200.00-$1500.00. This includes organic skin care and herbs/supplements tailored to your specific needs and facials. Keep in mind that additional treatments may be needed based on age and condition of skin and health. Cost of additional treatments will be discussed prior to occurring.
The sooner the better. Beginning this process during a time when the damage is being done but not yet seen is optimal. Generally speaking, this is occurring in the thirties. Collagen and elastin begin to break down, cell turnover and oil production slows.  A good candidate for Cosmetic Acupuncture is someone who wants to look and feel his or her best but does not want surgery. This is not the same as a surgical face-lift. Some examples would be: bridal parties, business women/men, busy moms, housewives, models, actors, newscasters, people about to have their 10-20-30 year reunions, realtors.

If you’ve already had plastic surgery, Cosmetic Acupuncture is a good adjunct therapy to help the healing process, soften scars and improve blood and qi flow to the area around the surgical site as well as surrounding areas. In addition, if surgery has been recent it has been found that acupuncture can improve healing of scars and help you feel your energetic best in a shorter period of time.
